Is there any need to care for skin differently once the weather begins to warm in a seasonal climate? The steps remain the same, but you may want to adjust the products you are using.
- Cleanse – use a product that is for your particular skin type. If your facial skin has begun to feel a little more oily than it did in colder weather, you may need to change your cleanser. Rinse with tepid water to not shock your skin. Use a toner or fresher to finish up and balance the Ph level of your skin.
- Exfoliate – if you find yourself baring more skin in warmer weather, you’ll want to make sure you are exfoliating more than just your face. Removing that top layer of skin that is ready to slough off anyway will show brighter skin beneath. If you are going to use a self-tanner, you’ll also want to make sure that the skin is smooth to assure the best results.
- Moisturize – a lighter product may be sufficient in warmer weather, as the dry/cold weather and dry inside heat may have turned to a more humid environment for summer. Many people have a lighter weight moisturizer for this time of year. Make sure it is non-comedogenic and won’t clog your pores.
- Protect – always protect yourself with sunscreen on areas that are exposed. Don’t forget the tops of ears and your lips!
- Don’t forget that even when using sunscreen, you may pick up enough color in your skin that you’ll want to change the color of your foundation.
Enjoy the season!
