Eat Your Way to Better Sun Protection, part 3

The last thing I wanted to mention regarding how what we eat can actually help the body protect itself from sun damage is an interesting link between people who had a history of skin cancer and how changing their eating habits made such a difference.   By changing their eating habits to include at least one serving each day of leafy greens such as spinach, their risk of developing future tumors was cut by 50 percent!  Wow, that’s incredible information from the International Journal of Cancer. So, don’t discount how important it is to include dark greens in your food plan.  They are simply loaded with antioxidants which seem to work like scavengers to seek and destroy free radicals.

There will be no test on this information.  However, there is homework.  Yes, the homework is to simply eat things that are good for you!  You know what I mean, real fruits and vegetables, to best ensure an adequate intake of the antioxidant nutrients through a balanced, good-for-you diet consisting of five to eight servings of fruits and vegetables per day.

Still, don’t forget the sunscreen.
