Makeup Brushes – The Right Tools for the Right Job

I have found that a hammer works better than the handle of a screwdriver for pounding nails.  A screwdriver usually works better than the end of a knife.  A Philips-head screwdriver even works better on those little criss-cross headed screws than a regular flat screwdriver.  Yes, it seems that there is a right tool for the right job.  Sometimes you find an alternate use for a tool that seems just perfect, but whatever the tool was designed for is usually the best thing to use it for.  (I actually found that a small sized rather stiff-bristled paint brush is perfect to clean a pleated lamp shade!  You may not have any pleated lamp shades, but don’t say I didn’t share that piece of advice!)  Even if something will work, when you have the right tools it just seems to go more quickly and is done more easily.

Makeup application is no exception.  Having the right makeup brushes is a little slice of heaven.  I still remember the first time I ever got my hands on a nice set of long-handled makeup brushes.  It gave “painted lady” a whole new meaning!  Those brushes just made application so fast and easy that I couldn’t believe it.  How long had I suffered along with those tiny little applicators that fit in a compact?  How long had I gotten so close to the mirror that I was almost on the other side, just so I could see what I was doing with those little applicators?  I was in love at that first swipe across my eyelid with that first brush.  The larger blush brush made is so easy to sweep color on that I didn’t have to even think of working hard at making it not look like a stripe of war paint!   Ahhhhh……

You can find makeup brushes in all price ranges.  You don’t have to feel like you have to spend an arm and a leg on brushes to get something that works well.  While there are brushes made for so many aspects of applying makeup, you can find sets of great quality brushes that are put together in sort of an all purpose set.   For example, we have a quality set of brushes that has been specifically designed as a good basic set, and it comes in a great organizer case, for $48.  You can pay more than that for a single brush.  My point is, don’t let high cost single brushes keep you from looking into trying great brushes for makeup application.  You are sure to love them, and you’re sure to be amazed at the difference they make in applying makeup!
